(More customer reviews)First, this little cutting board is really well-made, of quality olive wood. I can't believe they can offer it at this price.
Second, the grain of the wood is absolutely lovely, in its natural state. This wood is treated with a flat oil finish that makes it durable, and, slightly porous. Why is this important? If it is slightly porous, you can treat it with olive oil to keep it from drying out.
Third, this actually works like it is supposed to work. I am amazed that someone in the U.S. marketing community hasn't figured out some way to destroy the simplicity and functionality of this wonderful little cutting board by adding a digital timer, a digital lock, a digital voicebox that tells you what the shape of your bread will be after you cut it, etc. . . . . or, some other kind of worthless digital controls. You cut the bread so that the bread knife slices between the slots on the top board - the crumbs fall into the tray below. No digital C R _ P. Imagine that! (French bread and baguette crumbs are wonderful for preparing many small French or Catalan dishes (including as a topping for salad and vegetables)).
