Kaiser Bakeware Basic Tinplate 14-Inch Loaf Pan Review

(More customer reviews)These pans make great whole wheat bread. The little slices are just big enough to grab out of the toaster. Great if you are trying to limit your carbs, because you can have two slices for a sandwich, so no martyr factor.
The crusts are always perfect and the kids fight over who gets the heel.
HOWEVER - I've had this in my "save for later" box waiting for them to go down to their "normal" price, and just recently the price has QUADRUPLED !!! They are NOT worth that.
I know I can't put numbers in here, but the price should be in the single digits.
Editing to say - I don't think it had anything to do with me but the item dropped to its normal price :)

As it turned out its non stick coating and heavy duty construction insure that it will last my life time. My other bread pans have been relegated to storage. It makes a beautiful loaf of bread.

(More customer reviews)I had been looking for this type of pan and lid for a while, and this was the cheapest I had found. It is a nice solid construction (the matching lid fits securely) and cooks evenly. I've only used it once, but made wheat bread with it and it didn't over or under brown it - it was just the right color. The only problem I had with this is that it doesn't come with a recipe or directions, and with a pan this size, it's hard to know what amount of dough to use with it. It says it holds a 1.5 lb loaf, but if anyone was used to using a bread machine, they would think that you use 3 cups of flour in your recipe for this pan - that is NOT the case. With this pan you should be using between 5-5.5 cups of flour in your recipe. I actually used 4.75 and it still worked well. Also if you grease the pan a little, the loaf comes right out - no sticking. Overall a good solid pan for the price.

Used my bread machine to do the hard work: one hour; put the dough in the pan, the cover on and baked for 30 min. Beautiful evenly browned crust on all four sides, and the quickest bake and clean up ever! I am very very pleased with the performance of this pan. Did not have to wash it afterwards -just a simple wipe with a paper towel. It released the loaf of bread that easily. The 9 x 4 x 4 size is excellent for two. USA Pans recycles and the price is excellent!

(More customer reviews)This excellent bread pan produces outstanding loaves that do not stick to it. I used it the day it arrived with great success.
I used a "Pain de Mie" recipe from King Arthur's Flour that I found on the Internet which, with the addition of a 1/3 cup more water, produces a perfectly square fine crumb loaf which is excellent as a sandwich bread or toast.
The ribbed design of this pan evenly distributes heat during cooking and releases the loaf intact. It is very easy to clean.
The pan is a little expensive but substantial, well made and of very good quality. I highly recommend it.
