My review for this item could read exactly like the only other review for this item, with one exception - my baking stone only broke into 3 pieces. I followed the instructions exactly and the first time I used it to shattered in the oven as it was cooling.

Norpro Nonstick Extendable Pizza Crisper Baking Sheet Review

Norpro Nonstick Extendable Pizza Crisper Baking Sheet
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Says it expands so you can fit it into the slots on the sides of the oven (essentially making it it's own rack). This is only the case if you have a small/compact oven (the weird kind in some smaller apartments and in some kitchens I've seen in Europe). I have a standard-size (I think around 23" wide) oven, and even with the expanding handles, it doesn't come close to fitting.
This is, of course, not a big deal. I just set it on top of another rack.
I whipped up some pizza dough and rolled it right on this rack-- no flour dusting! No kidding! The non-stick is great. I made it pretty thin, topped it up, and baked for about 15 minutes at 475. The pizza was great. It was actually better with this pan than with my pizza stone (let the record show that I like *crispy* pizza...). It was crisp on the bottom, but still chewy. I could pick up a slice by the crust, and it didn't flop at all. That's how I like it. For reference, my home-made crust turned out similar to what you get with the (par-baked) Frescetta "Brick Oven" pizzas (the only good frozen pizzas, as far as I'm concerned).
Advantages:
1. Roll/prepare right on the sheet! No messing with a pizza peel!
2. Crust turns out great, and no sticking.
3. lightweight, easy to use, easy to clean, and cheap.
4. IMO, better results than with a stone.
5. No one-hour warm-up like when using a stone.
Disadvantages:
1. Doesn't expand to full width of a normal oven; must be used like a regular pan.
2. Warped a bit (the "pan twist") during baking; resumed normal shape upon cooling.
summary: FIVE stars for performance, but stupid size...
This is a no-brainer. If you're experimenting with making your own pizzas, definitely drop your $20 on this toy. Then if you use it for bread or cookies, let us know about it!!!

Mario Batali 14-Inch Pizza Pan, Persimmon Review

Mario Batali 14-Inch Pizza Pan, Persimmon
Average Reviews:

This pan is great from the design point of veiw; except that its handle is made so fragile. It could break easily if not handled with care. When I first received it, the packing was poorly done and because of that the handle was broken. I observed the handle and noticed that it could break easily if not handled with care. But the baking surface is excellent and the look is excellent too. So I re-ordered it and I am hoping that this time I will get it in tact.
Well, I finally got the second shipment. I still think the packaging is poor for such a fragile item. The packaging from the manufacturer is itself not good; to top it off Amazon's packing was poor also; which is very unusual. Hopefully this will serve as a constructive criticism for future improvement.

Doughmakers Pizza Pan 12-in. Review

Doughmakers Pizza Pan 12-in.

I highly recommend this pizza pan and all other Doughmakers bakeware. I have and use various Wilton and Kaiser sheets and pans but after repeatedly using a small Doughmakers sheet which I received free with the purchase of a pie tin, I decided to buy a whole collection by Doughmakers. I have found all the sheets and pans to be most satisfactory. Only for some recipes would I consider using a stone, which I have not done because I have not been bothered to take the time to warm a stone in my standard convection oven. No brick oven here.

I bought this to keep in my oven to help with oven temperatures. I took it out to wipe something off of after using it for just two days and it broke in half. Since I wasn't planning to use it for pizza I just kept it and put it back in the oven. Definitely be gentle with this stone though, it breaks VERY easily!

This is, by far, the best add-it-to-my-cart-to-get-free-shipping purchase I've ever made. The pizzas come out perfect and there's absolutely no sticking.
I only use this pan to make pizza with fresh, hand-made dough. For those having problems with the holes in the pan, I recommend rolling the dough on the counter and once you've stretched it to the size of the pan, lay the dough on the pan. If you roll the dough directly on the pan, it will press through the holes.
I've had this for almost four years, making around one pizza a month and it still performs as-new.

Norpro 13 Inch Round Pizza Baking Stone Review

Norpro 13 Inch Round Pizza Baking Stone

We made a family decision to only buy and eat healthy food and it's really made a difference in our lives. One of our favorite things is to make our own pizzas. However,we don't go as far as to make the dough, but instead buy the premade whole wheat pizza shells. Then we load them up with fresh vegetables, garlic, virgin olive oil, cheese and meat. As far as the stone goes ,it's pretty basic. It is just a round piece of ceramic which heats up and makes the pizza crispy. I made a special spot in the cabinet to store it flat up against the side so it won't accidently get broken. You will also need a pizza peel to get your pizzas in and out of the oven easily.

Good Cook 4301 14.75 Inch Pizza Stone with Rack Review

Good Cook 4301 14.75 Inch Pizza Stone with Rack
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I got a Good Chef pizza stone as a wedding gift about 3 and a half years ago. I was still a novice pizza chef, so it took me a while to get accustomed to the art of pizza crust. The better my crust and technique got, the more I appreciated my pizza stone.
Crust is crispy and the texture is fantastic, even with heavy, moist toppings (one of my favorites is a variety of cooked wild mushrooms, thyme, a little fontina, and some prosciutto). I am committed to healthy cooking, so not having to use oil to prevent sticking is a plus. I just scatter a bit of coarse-ground cornmeal onto the preheated stone and it comes up easily.
Of course pre-heating the stone (at a high temperature) is the only way to acheive desired results. And the more the stone is used the more non-stick it becomes. We treat it the way we'd treat cast-iron.
Having a pizza stone is a great way to get brick-oven-style crust at home (and homemade is almost always healthier)!

All-Clad Stainless-Steel Serving Tray with 13-inch Pizza-Baking Stone Insert and Pizza Cutter
Average Reviews:

I have made pizza at home for years, tried regular old aluminum cookie sheets, clay pizza stones and now finally this All Clad soapstone. It is far and away superior to any other way of cooking pizza at home. The stainless steel holder provides for easy transport in and out of the oven as everyone clamors to make the next pizza. This is a huge asset as these pizza stones are heavy and unwieldy. The hot stone gives you a crisp bottom and thoroughly cooked crust (ever get a raw in the middle job? Yuck!). Highly recommended.

Whether baking up a homemade pizza, cheesy quesadilla, or rosemary flatbread, this high-quality round-shaped baking stone helps deliver restaurant-quality results. Measuring approximately 17 by 14 by 1 inches, the unit comes equipped with a 13-inch baking stone that retains and thoroughly distributes heat, from the center all the way out to the edges, to ensure fully cooked food with a deliciously crisp crust. The stoneware will cure naturally over time or it can be greased with cooking spray or a little oil or butter for enhanced nonstick performance. The baking stone sits inside a beautiful stainless-steel tray, which supplies generous side handles that allow for secure transport in and out of the oven. The unit can also be used as a serving tray for fruit and cheese, mini quiches, or other hors d'oeuvres when entertaining. The baking stone and tray can withstand an oven's heat up to 400 degrees F, and cleanup's a snap--simply wash with warm soapy water in the sink. A handy stainless-steel pizza cutter comes included, complete with a sharp spinning wheel and an easy-grip handle for cutting perfect slices. A fun addition to any All-Clad cookware collection, the baking stone carries a limited lifetime warranty.

Old Stone Oven Pizza Stone Round Review

Old Stone Oven Pizza Stone Round
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought two of these, despite their relatively high price. I wanted to be able to cook two large pizzas at once for entertaining, so nobody waits slobbering while others eat their pizza.
I've made pizza twice and have not been disappointed. The stones are fairly soft and would scratch easily with sharp steel implements, so I'd avoid using them. The sone's porosity means it will stain easily. Spilled tomato sauce and cheese will bake right into the surface. I expect my pizza stones will quickly develop a patina. If you want clean looking pizza stones, the maintenance would be nearly impossible. Otherwise, maintenance is easy. Wash in hot water (no soap) and air dry. Use a belt sander or orbital sander if you ever want to renew the surface.
I'm surprised another reviewer received a broken pizza stone. The manufacturer packages these heavy and moderately fragile items very well with lots of corrugated cardboard. Both of mine arrived in perfect condition. They were shipped separately, like apparently everything from Amazon.
The crust is much better than the pizzas I was making in glass pie plates. It's crispy on the bottom and tender in the middle. The toppings are better too, because they are cooked at higher temperatures and have more of a roasted flavor. Before, pizzas cooked at 350 F for 25 minutes. The crust had good flavor but tended to steam under the vegetables and cooked very slowly. Now, I cook pizzas in ten minutes (!) and the crust and toppings are perfect. For entertaining, you could easily bake a pizza in the time it takes to assemble the toppings for the next pizza.
I just received the peel. For the uninitiated, a peel is the flat wooden pizza assembly station used to transfer the pizza to the stone in the oven. So far, I have made four pizzas without the peel and it's frustrating, and possibly dangerous working in a 500 F oven. Get the peel. It's not an option.
A tablespoon of corn meal on the peel and the stone will prevent the dough / crust from sticking.
The pizza stone is requiring a new learning curve, and I'm fairly sure it'll end up being a bit more effort than the pie plates I was using, but the much better pizza will be well worth the little extra effort. The peel and stone make it possible to have gourmet restaurant pizza at home. It's much easier than most people would think, and much less expensive than eating out. With no prior experience, expect 4-5 attempts to work out the tricks. After that, homemade pizza is fast and easy.
Pizza Dough:
1 1/8 cups of warm water
1 tablespoon sugar
1 tablespoon dry yeast
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon olive oil
3 cups bread flour
Combine all ingredients in a mixing bowl in the order listed. Mix by hand until liquid is absorbed. Use a heavy duty mixer (Kitchenaid, etc.) and a dough hook to knead the dough for ten minutes (highly recommended), or knead by hand on a floured bread board until the dough has a silky sheen (the labor intensive method). Spray with olive oil in the mixing bowl, cover the bowl with plastic wrap, and let the dough rise until doubled in size. This takes 20-30 minutes in a 200 F oven (lowest setting) or on the stove top as the oven below is preheating. Makes two 14" pizza crusts.

I am a chef with 10 yrs in the industry. This is something everyone should have, and the stones get better as they get seasoned with use. In reference to another review, have some common sence and dont put a hot stone on your counter top! These stones are a little thin, but if you take care of them, they will last a long time. Keilen Italian Villa 14-by-15-Inch Rectangular Bread Baking Stone with Jumbo Pizza Cutter Review

Keilen Italian Villa 14-by-15-Inch Rectangular Bread Baking Stone with Jumbo Pizza Cutter
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I used to have a pizza/bread stone, and I hated the darned thing. First, it really did have a terrible odor from the start. I didn't realize that wasn't 'normal'. Then over time, everything got stuck to it. And finally I just tossed it in the trash.
Hesitantly bought this one. Had read all the reviews on it, and particularly for the money, seemed to have the best overall reviews. Was skeptical, but had wanted to start trying to bake 'artisan' bread, and the recipe I was using was very specific about baking directly on a stone only, and using a pizza peel to get bread in and out of oven.
Took new stone from box - happy to note there was no odor at all when I stuck my nose on it - brushed off the little bits of styrophome from the packaging, and without doing anything else to it, set it directly into my oven and turned it on to 500*. Had the worst fear I'd hear a big "pop", indicating the stone had cracked in half. But it didn't. Cooked stone like that for an hour - not a hint of scent coming from my oven.
Used the Prime shipping, so knew stone would be here in 2 days - had gone ahead and made the bread dough I'd been dying to try. Was a little worried though - my recipe has you keep dough in fridge until you bake it - was concerned about putting cold dough on extremely hot stone. But - was no problem at all. Cold bread dough + hot baking stone = no problem! Pizza peel came in same shipment, and it slid my dough onto the hot stone much easier than if I'd have tried to do it with my hands (I'll rephrase - slid the dough onto hot stone so I wouldn't burn the crap out of my hands and probably my arms too!).
Bread came out exactly as cookbook writer said it would - dark and crusty. When it was cool enough to cut, the inside was still moist and chewy, as recipe indicated. Excellent 'artisan' consistency!
The next day, I opened the oven and looked at the stone. Besides having a little cornmeal on it, it otherwise looked exactly as it did when I'd placed it in the oven - no stain or spot from the dough, still no smell.
Saw another review rebuking the pizza cutter. For me, I was buying a stone - the cutter, albiet not professional quality, was just a 'bonus' that came with the stone.
I'm happy - this stone is definitely a keeper!
