Lamson Sharp 33688 Batard Knife with Folding Wood Handle Review

This is a typical Chinese low-quality product. I would love it if it were of decent quality.
This is the roughest blade hinge I have ever experienced. The blade grinds and balks when it is opened or closed. I don't believe I have ever felt such a rough knife hinge. It is even worse than a knife that has been dropped in sand. The blade is decent when new, but is poorly sharpened and dulls quickly, especially where it contacts a cutting board. The corkscrew does work smoothly and seems well-finished. They missed a good design opportunity on the corkscrew by not fitting a folding projection to make it a waiter's corkscrew. Nobody likes the brute-force corkscrews, you know. Many people can't even use them. Leverage is a wonderful thing.
The only good thing I can say about this knife is that it is pretty until you use it. It would make a nice gift for someone you knew would not use it, or know the difference.

Pure Komachi 2 Series 9-Piece Knife Set with Block Review

Pure Komachi 2 Series 9-Piece Knife Set with Block

I have owned these for about 6 months now. At first, they seemed a bit lightweight but after using them, they are perfect. They are well balanced and extremely sharp. So far, there has not been a single negative. If you are used to using cheap knives, you should be very careful when you first get these. We had company at the house who did some cooking and she ended up cutting herself at least six times! She never owned a knife that took so little effort to use and she kept slipping up and nicking her fingers. The knife block is a little large but it displays the colors of the blades very nicely. I tried putting them in a smaller wooden block but they just did not look as good. We use colorful Fiesta dinnerware in the house and these knives add a bold splash of color of their own to the counter top. I liked the set so well that I went back and bought all the remaining knives in the set.

A fantastic, eye-catching set for any kitchen enthusiast, the 9-piece Pure Komachi 2 knife block set includes an 8-inch chef's, 8-inch bread, 6-1/2-inch Santoku, 4-inch tomato/cheese, 5-3/4-inch sandwich, 4-inch citrus, 3-1/2-inch paring, and a 6-inch utility knife. They all store in an included clear acrylic block that works as a perfect display for their brilliant colors. The brilliant monochromatic colors on the series serve dual purposes: color-coding makes it easy to choose the right knife for the job and it helps guard against cross-contaminating food. The bold blade color is achieved by bonding food-safe FDA-approved resin to high-carbon stainless-steel blades. This non-stick coating resists corrosion, makes cleaning simple, and helps the knives glide through food with ease. Color-matched handles are lightweight and ergonomically contoured for a comfortable, fatigue-reducing grip. The set is dishwasher safe.

I have arthritis and fibromyalgia so it is hard and painful to slice and chop food. The first thing I sliced with this knife was a lemon and it was so accurate and effortless I loved it. The handle is very easy to grasp and non-slip. I liked the small chef's knife so much that I ordered the other three types (regular, large chef's knife, bread and paring knife. I am so pleased to see more products for people with disabilities. Even if you are able-bodied you will love these knives.
